Seguro que te has encontrado con alguna de ellas. Son bastante inconfundibles aunque precisamente por eso,puedan confundirte,pues las Wallace son \u00abfuentes de mundo\u00bb y se dejan ver en San Sebasti\u00e1n,Par\u00eds,Burdeos,Nueva Orleans,Z\u00farich,Londres,Montreal…<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Barcelona cont\u00f3 hasta con doce fuentes Wallace pero hoy s\u00f3lo podemos ver dos de ellas: una en Las Ramblas,frente al Museo de Cera,y la otra en Gran V\u00eda esquina Paseo de Gracia. El resto,denominadas Neo-Wallace,fueron fundidas a partir de los moldes antiguos,pero no son originarias de la \u00e9poca.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LA FUENTE WALLACE DE LAS RAMBLAS.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Estas fuentes son f\u00e1cilmente identificables y bien merecen ser descubiertas como ruta. Hacerlo es adentrarse hasta el siglo XIX,cuando acceder al agua potable era uno de los grandes desaf\u00edos de las ciudades modernas. Par\u00eds no fue una excepci\u00f3n pero tuvo la suerte de contar con un mecenas,Richard Wallace,fil\u00e1ntropo brit\u00e1nico que financi\u00f3 la construcci\u00f3n de decenas de fuentes denominadas as\u00ed en su honor,Wallace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Las Wallace son un tipo de fuente p\u00fablica,de agua potable,repartidas en diversas ciudades,aunque la capital francesa fue la primera en la que se instalaron y donde se encuentran en mayor n\u00famero. El trabajo se encarg\u00f3 al escultor Charles Lebourg con una serie de instrucciones claras: deb\u00edan ser suficientemente grandes para ser visibles de lejos,pero sin romper la armon\u00eda del paisaje,deb\u00edan combinar utilidad y est\u00e9tica,teniendo un precio razonable y construidas con un material perdurable y f\u00e1cil de trabajar. Bonitas pero pr\u00e1cticas,en definitiva.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adem\u00e1s de estas fuentes para Par\u00eds,se realizaron unas 50 m\u00e1s que fueron regaladas a diversas ciudades del mundo. Entre ellas 12 fueron a parar a Barcelona,como regalo a Rius i Taulet por la Exposici\u00f3n Universal de 1888.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Las fuentes Wallace son de hierro forjado y color verde oscuro. Sabr\u00e1s que es una Wallace cuando distingas cuatro cari\u00e1tides que sostienen una peque\u00f1a c\u00fapula con cuatro peces. Cada figura,diferente entre s\u00ed,representa una virtud: la Bondad,la Simplicidad,la Caridad y la Sobriedad,que a su vez representan las cuatro estaciones del a\u00f1o: invierno,primavera,verano y oto\u00f1o respectivamente.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
