El Centre Excursionista de Catalunya custodia,en su sede de la calle Parad\u00eds,el m\u00e1s importante vestigio de la antigua Barcino,los restos del templo dedicado al emperador Augusto que presid\u00eda el foro de la ciudad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Se trata de cuatro columnas que formaban una de las esquinas del edificio. Aunque en realidad son solo tres. La cuarta,conocida como \u00abla viajera\u00bb,est\u00e1 en realidad fabricada con restos de otras columnas y que hasta 1956 se exhib\u00eda en la plaza del Rei.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

El edificio se supone que fue erigido a principios del siglo I d. C.,en tiempos del emperador Augusto. Con el tiempo,el templo y sus columnas fueron absorbidos por las edificaciones m\u00e1s modernas. Existen antiguos dibujos que documentan la presencia de las columnas como parte de algunas viviendas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sin embargo,la existencia de los restos de las columnas fue pr\u00e1cticamente ignorada durante siglos,hasta que en 1830,el arquitecto Antoni Celles realiz\u00f3 una detallada memoria del templo a partir de unas excavaciones financiadas por la Junta de Comer\u00e7 de Barcelona. No obstante,el recobrado inter\u00e9s por el antiguo templo de Augusto no impidi\u00f3 que continuase la destrucci\u00f3n de las hist\u00f3ricas columnas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En 1850 exist\u00edan todav\u00eda seis,de las cuales tres fueron derribadas durante las obras de unos edificios de la calle Llibreteria. Miembros de la Acad\u00e8mia de Bones Lletres recogieron los restos,con los que lograron reconstruir la cuarta columna que hoy puede admirarse en el Centre Excursionista,la m\u00e1s pr\u00f3xima a la entrada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Su intenci\u00f3n inicial era llevarla al museo de antig\u00fcedades que esta entidad hab\u00eda promovido en la capilla de Santa \u00c1gueda,pero a causa de sus dimensiones se decidi\u00f3 finalmente situarla en la plaza del Rei,donde permaneci\u00f3 hasta 1956,cuando se integr\u00f3 de nuevo en el templo,junto con las tres que forman la esquina superviviente y de donde,a diferencia de su compa\u00f1era,no se han movido desde hace dos milenios.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
